The Hollyweed Sign Bandit Has Been Arrested

The man who's defaced the Hollywood sign as Hollyweed on New Year's has been arrested for trespassing.

 

Sure, life might feel great when you're smoking that good Hollyweed. You might feel on top of the world when your mind if overcome with THC (the H stands for Hollyweed). But then you always come out of it. You come down. The Hollyweed wears off. You're back in Hollywood. Also, if you're the guy who defaced that sign, you were arrested by LA authorities this week, and that sucks too.
The suspect. a Zachary Cole Fernandez, thirty years old, turned himself to Los Angeles authorities earlier this week and was charged with trespassing. Which is like— can that not be negated by the bringing joy to a nation via the vast Hollyweed prank? I just want us to live in a happier world.

Boeing 737: Australia joins Singapore in barring Max planes

SilkAir's six Max 8 aircraft will remain grounded for now Malaysia is the latest country to temporarily ban Boeing 737 Max aircraft from flying to and from the country, joining Singapore, China and Australia. The decision comes after  an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing Max 8 crashed on Sunday, killing 157 people on board . It was the second fatal accident involving that model in less than five months. Singapore's Changi Airport is the world's sixth busiest and a major hub connecting Asia to Europe and the US. But only a handful of airlines operate Max aircraft in and out of the country. No Australian airlines operate the Boeing 737 Max, and only two foreign airlines - SilkAir and Fiji Airways - fly the model into the country. Shane Carmody, who is in charge of aviation safety at Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority, said the suspension would remain in place while the organisation awaited "for more information to review the safety risks". ...

Google diversity head removed over anti-Semitic blog post

  Google has removed its head of diversity over a 2007 blog post that said Jewish people had "an insatiable appetite for war and killing". In a post about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that resurfaced this week, Kamau Bobb also claimed Jewish people had an "insensitivity" to suffering. The post has now been deleted. On Thursday, a spokesperson for Google told the BBC that Mr Bobb would "no longer be part of our diversity team going forward". "We unequivocally condemn the past writings by a member of our diversity team that are causing deep offence and pain to members of our Jewish community," they said. Suffolk Coastal District Council will investigate the pond on Ed Sheeran's estate Ed Sheeran's Suffolk estate will be inspected by council officials to make sure his pond is there for wildlife and not "a wild lifestyle". Some neighbours had been worried the pond would be used for swimming and watersports, which are against planning permission. Suffolk Coastal District Council is to investigate to make sure the rules are being followed. Other neighbours said they had "no problem with Ed Sheeran whatsoever". The wildlife pond, featuring a jetty, steps and sheds, was installed after being granted planning permission in January 2017. But last year the council questioned its possible use for recreational purposes during an "enforcement investigation".
