AMD revenue up 23.2 percent as demand grows for chips used in gaming consoles

Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices Inc reported a 23.2 pct percent rise in quarterly revenue as demand jumped for its graphics chips used in gaming consoles.Net loss widened to $406 million, or 50 cents per share, in the third quarter ended Sept. 24 from $197 million, or 25 cents per share, a year earlier.
The company's revenue rose to $1.31 billion from $1.06 billion.

Boko Haram leaves 3 million kids out of school in N. Nigeria

DAKAR, Senegal –   Boko Haram's ongoing insurgency in northern Nigeria has forced the closure of more than 57 percent of schools in Borno state, leaving about 3 million children without an education as the school year begins, the United Nations Children's Fund said Friday. "Children in northeast Nigeria are living through so much horror," said Justin Forsyth, UNICEF's Deputy Executive Director at the end of a three-day visit to Maiduguri, the epicenter of the crisis in the northeast. Luke Perry's daughter Sophie hits out at online 'grief-shamers'

The daughter of late Riverdale actor Luke Perry has hit back at people who have criticised her grieving process. Sophie Perry explained  on Instagram  how she's "received a lot of attention online" following her father's death. "Yes I am hurt and sad and crying and beside myself with what happened to my dad," she wrote. "But I'm not going to sit in my room and cry day in and day out until the internet has deemed it appropriate for me to do otherwise," she continued. "And if you knew my dad you would know he wouldn't want me to. So you shouldn't either." The US actor  died in California at the age of 52 , less than a week after suffering a massive stroke. Perry rose to fame for playing Dylan McKay in Beverly Hills, 90210 and gained a new generation of fans through his role as Fred Andrews on Netflix's Riverdale.
